NUCA National Convention: A Few Days Away, Endless Industry Impact

Attending the National Utility Contractors Association (NUCA) National Convention for the first time proved to be an incredible and energizing experience for NUCA Southern Idaho President, Eric Bird and Board Member, Franco Massari. Surrounded by utility contractors, vendors, and industry associates from across the United States, the event provided a powerful opportunity to connect with professionals who are passionate about advancing the utility construction industry.
The convention offered meaningful opportunities to learn, exchange ideas, and build long-standing relationships with peers. Each speaker and topic delivered valuable insight, reinforcing the depth of knowledge and leadership within the industry. One of the highlights of the convention was the many opportunities to network and engage with industry professionals from across the country.
A standout highlight of the event was the roundtable discussions led by Wally Adamchik. His facilitation encouraged engaging dialogue across multiple topics, sparking thoughtful conversations within small groups that were later shared openly with all attendees. The collaborative format fostered both shared learning and practical takeaways.
Beyond the educational sessions and meetings, attendees had the chance to connect in a more relaxed and interactive setting during a lively team-building Margarita, Salsa, and Guacamole making competition. The event was filled with laughter, creativity, and a little friendly rivalry. Nichole and Sheri stole the spotlight by taking home the gold medal for their standout salsa recipe — a victory that brought plenty of bragging rights and new dance moves along with it.
While the team-building event was certainly memorable, the most exciting and proud
moment of the week came when NUCA Southern Idaho’s own Executive Director, Sheri Nowlan, was named Executive Director of the Year. The announcement was met with tremendous excitement and applause, as the recognition was a testament to her dedication, leadership, and commitment to the industry. It was a celebratory moment not only for Sheri, but for the entire chapter, making the convention an unforgettable experience for all who attended.
Overall, the NUCA National Convention serves as an excellent platform for bringing industry professionals together. It is an experience that is both professionally rewarding and personally motivating, and one that utility industry members are strongly encouraged to attend in the future.
