NUCA Southern Idaho proudly hosted its inaugural Poker tournament at the incredible venue Crooked 8 Event Center located in Kuna, ID. This highly anticipated event attracted over 35 participants, creating an electric atmosphere that catered to both seasoned poker enthusiasts and newcomers eager to test their skills at the card tables. The evening was filled with excitement and camaraderie as players engaged in friendly competition, all while enjoying delicious snacks and refreshments that enhanced the overall experience. The sound of chips clacking and the thrill of big bids added to the lively ambiance, making it a memorable night for everyone involved.

Among the standout players of the evening, the big winners were NUCA guests from RSCI,

with Jaxon Wagner and Mike Maloney taking home the prestigious first and second place titles, respectively. Their strategic gameplay and quick thinking under pressure were commendable, earning them well-deserved recognition and some lighthearted ribbing. Kristin Stone from Post Insurance also made a significant mark on the night by clinching the third-place position, her excitement palpable as she celebrated her achievement with fellow participants and event hosts Sheri Nowlan and Nichole Thrift. The friendly rivalry and sportsmanship displayed throughout the tournament fostered a sense of community and connection among attendees.

This fantastic event was made possible through the generous sponsorship of Core & Main, IQ Construct NW, and our guest sponsor, Zurich North America. Their support not only contributed to the success of the tournament but also underscored the importance of collaboration within the industry. The proceeds generated from the poker tournament will play a crucial role in establishing our Next Generation Scholarship and Workforce Development fund. This initiative is designed to provide valuable resources and opportunities for aspiring professionals in the field as well as providing another benefit for NUCA members. We are excited to roll it out as soon as it is fully funded.

We encourage everyone to keep an eye out for future information regarding the scholarship, as it represents a significant step towards nurturing the next generation of talent in our industry. We look forward to welcoming all our members and their guests back to the Crooked 8 for another enjoyable evening filled with fun, networking, and, of course, more poker next year. The success of this inaugural tournament sets a promising precedent for future events, and we are eager to build on this momentum in the months to come.
